Bouncy trampolines can be exceedingly fun as well as being useful to keep your youngsters fascinated and active for a substantial number of hours. Some Trampolines aren’t just designed for toddlers, as they can also be used by adults as an aerobic training drill on top of a means for toning and toughening body muscles in unison. Therefore, a trampoline has a large amount to offer throughout the summer months for all the family and it is of no bolt out of the blue that trampolines are such an admired product during the summer holidays.

The main consideration when looking for a trampoline for the kids is to confirm it’s suitable for the age & ability of all the individuals who will be using it, be it the teenagers’ or the adults.

An additional thing to keep in mind is naturally going to be the position of the trampoline. Many trampolines at the moment can take up a large amount of space especially as you will need about 3ft of grass approximately around the outside of the trampoline in order for the youngsters to land in one piece if they by coincidence plunge off.

It’s also key to note that certain garden trampolines will insist to be placed on even ground or else the durability & protection of the outdoor trampoline can be seriously affected. With this in mind, numerous trenches may well possibly need to be excavated in order for the garden trampoline to stand properly. Finding the best swimsuit for you.

Finding the best swimsuit for you.

You might have seen those swimsuits advertised by the great
fashion magazines. Almost all swimsuits look great on those
supermodels but what about the common folks who cannot wear
swimsuits of size 4?

We buy those swimsuits that look great on supermodels as those
look great when they wear them but you make a smart decision if
you do a little search on what best suits you.

First of all do not compare yourself with those swimsuit models.
They give all their lives to look the way they do and to have a
few photo sessions.

Finding the right swimsuit for you can be depressing especially
if the sizes you wear are a little higher. This is especially
for plus size swimsuits, but now a days the major companies are
coming up with more and more of these plus size swimsuits and
some companies specializes only in plus size swimsuits. Choosing
a swimsuit with a high percentage of Lycra or spandex and a
high-cut leg will actually shave 10 pounds off of your
appearance.

Women with a pear shape have a great problem while selecting a
swimsuit. A built in tummy tuck provided by some plus size
swimsuits provides you an extra support. Search specifically if
that’s what you are looking for. High-cut legs tend to slim the
hips and thighs. The women with a pear shape can go with flashy
top with plenty of eye-grabbing detail combined with more
subdued bottoms.

Women with short and long torso have a difficult time shopping
as well. Torso length is a very important factor in buying
swimsuits. If you want to lengthen or shorten the appearance of
torso in a swimsuit then get the perfect cut on the legs. Women
with long torsos should try a tankini with bottoms that sit a
little higher on the hips. The tankini top will break up a long
torso while the higher bottoms will lengthen the legs.

If you have a large bust you have few choices but most swimsuit
manufacturers now offer bra-style support in their swimsuits, an
absolute must for minimizing and flattering large breasts. Find
a bikini or swimsuit in a pretty, young, pastel color.

Women with small bust then the bra style support looks great. If
you have a boy shaped body then we suggest one-piece swimsuit
with a low, plunging neckline. Boy shorts are incredibly popular
but look attractive on only a small percentage of women; women
with boy shapes make up the majority of this small percentage.

Online shopping has become easier than ever before. You may be
sitting in your computer chair but you will be on a highway, a
highway to the swimsuits shopping heaven. Although it’s
sometimes depressing to search online for hours together without
results you always have the option to grab your best friend and
go shopping offline. For more information on swimsuits visit our

Why Range Finders are Perfect for the BackCountry

Gepost door admin op 04/03/2008

Outdoor enthusiasts love to guess about all sorts of things. We guess how many stars are in the Milky Way, we guess how fast a deer runs or we might even guess about how long it will be until that big, dark cloud dumps rain us. But there are times when guessing in the backcountry just doesn’t get the job done. Specialty gear is available to help us determine how far we’ve hiked - and in what direction - and other tools are available to help take the guesswork out of purifying water. But there is a another useful tool overlooked by many avid backcountry visitors - the rangefinder.

Rangefinders are used in a number of commercial applications - surveying, mapping, mining, etc. - however for our purposes we will be discussing the portable laser rangefinder used by outdoor sportsmen and sportswomen.

Laser rangefinders calculate the distance to an object by bouncing a laser beam off of the object and measuring the lapsed time until the beam returns. Since the calculation is based upon the return of the beam, it stands to reason that a more reflective object can be measured at a greater distance than a less reflective object. Readily available models are accurate to within one yard and have the ability to measure distances to reflective targets up to 1500 yards away - that’s nearly a mile - and they’re accurate under nearly any condition.

The past few years have seen a number of technology advances across all rangefinder price ranges. Many models are lightweight, are easily operated with one hand, can measure through rain or snow, can see through nearby clutter, function well in low light, contain integrated optical magnification and are 100% waterproof. Additionally there have been vast improvements lately to lens coatings, battery life and information display.

If distances are important to your activity, you need a rangefinder. BackCountry features - rocks, trees, lakes, mountains, ravines, cliffs - have a tendency to distort one’s depth perception. It is easy to misjudge even short distances. The most widely used application of rangefinders is in measuring shot distances by hunters. Whether you are hunting waterfowl or elk, distance to your game is the most critical factor in placing an effective shot. Bow hunters would never hunt without their rangefinder, the difference between 45 yards and 50 yards for a bow hunter is the difference between success and failure. Rangefinders are also used by golfers for determining club selection, by hikers to determine the best route to travel and by campers, boaters and wildlife observers for a wide variety of distance measuring purposes.

The next time you plan to spend time in our wondrous backcountry consider taking a rangefinder along with you. If you’ve never looked through a rangefinder, you don’t know what you’re missing. With a quality rangefinder, guessing distances just became old news.

First Comes Love, Next Comes Marriage, Then Comes …An End to Outdoor Fun?

Gepost door admin op 26/02/2008

Have you recently been introduced to the wonderful world of sleepless nights tending to a newborn? If your newborn is several months old, you’re probably thinking that your whole life has been turned upside down. Gone are the days of fun and adventure with just you and your spouse. The baby gets all of the attention and all you can do is find ways to keep the baby from crying, right? That’s exactly the way I felt a few months after our daughter was born. Don’t get me wrong. I loved everything about our new addition to the family. But, I was starting to wonder if things would ever get back to normal. Not long before the baby, my wife and I were enjoying almost daily hikes through the mountains, campouts in the great outdoors, and a number of other outdoor activities that we both loved. Would the new baby mean an end to all of the outdoor fun?

Lucky for me the answer was a definite no! After my wife recovered from the trauma of the whole hospital scene and she was tired of being stuck in the house all of the time, we discussed the possibility of our first adventure outdoors with the little one. I realize here that many parents would call me crazy for even mentioning the idea, but just hear me out on this one. With a little planning and the right preparation, you won’t have to say goodbye to all of the fun outdoor activities you used to enjoy.
At two weeks old, my wife and I decided that our daughter was ready for a little nature walk. We stopped by a local outdoor store and picked up one of those big wheeled rigs called a “jogging stroller.” Heading up into one of the local canyons, we found a fairly wide hiking trail that wound up through a majestic forest of tall pines and beautiful aspens. While we were not able to hike too far on this first trip, we realized that there were probably plenty more outdoor activities that we could take our daughter on.

As our daughter became old enough to hold her head up really well on her own, we invested a new kid carrier. A kid carrier is like a backpack that you put your little one in. The one we bought has a nice canopy over the top to protect the child from the sun. This new advancement in outdoor gear really allowed us to get outdoors with a little one. We took on several lighter hikes to test the waters a little and soon found that our daughter actually enjoyed it. Well, with the luck we had with the hikes, we decided to try some camping. Everything went great. We did have to bring a long some extra necessities, but with a little more effort we were able to get out and enjoy the outdoors. We even tackled Angel’s Landing in Zion’s National Park with my 18 month old daughter taking it easy in the kid carrier the whole way. If you are thinking that the only reason I could do all of this is because I don’t have a child that cries a lot, I will say that we didn’t have a single outing when she wouldn’t at some point start crying. Each time, a short break would cheer her up and off we’d go again.

Now, if you’ve been thinking “duh, this is nothing new” as you were reading this article then good for you. You’re way ahead of me and there’s probably nothing that keeps you from enjoying the outdoors. For the rest of you, don’t think that a newborn means an end to your outdoor fun. You may need to consult your child’s pediatrician before participating in some outdoor activities. But, with the right amount of planning and effort, you can get back to many of the outdoor activities that you enjoyed before the little one came along. You will find that the benefits of doing so can last throughout your lifetime. Your child will grow to love the outdoors and they will love the time that you spend with them.

Zambezi Sharks Under Threat at Protea Banks

Gepost door admin op 13/01/2008

Sharklife.co.za has been fighting an ongoing for the protection of the Zambezi shark on Protea Banks but has been informed that a fishing charter is still trophy fishing for these sharks.

Sensational Fishing Charters is the only charter in the area to actively advertise and promote shark trophy fishing.

It takes Zambezi sharks over 20 years to reach breeding maturity. Should this slaughter be allowed to continue we fear that the entire Zambezi shark population of Protea Banks will soon be gone. Currently the only sharks seen on Protea Banks that have any form of protection, are the Great White and Spotted Ragged-tooth. Many other species, like the Zambezi, are in desperate need of protection and we need your help to get the authorities to act and get unscrupulous charters to stop their slaughter.

Local dive charter African Odyssea has witnessed the drastic decline in the Zambezi shark population on Protea Banks. One could expect to see up to 20 or more individual sharks on a single dive when diving began there in 1994 and this season 2005 there are an estimated 7 individual Zambezi’s left on the reef.

Each of these 7 sharks is a national treasure attracting thousands of divers each year to Protea Banks not to mention their vital importance to the ecology of the reef.

Weighing Your RV

Gepost door admin op 05/12/2007
Toegevoegd onder: Internet Recreation Resources

Weighing your RV can be the difference between a safe, enjoyable trip and a costly, disastrous trip. The Recreation Vehicle Safety Education Foundation (RVSEF) has weighed over 10,000 motor homes and trailers in conjunction with RV events. The results are a real eye opener. Nearly a quarter of the RVs weighed had loads that exceeded the capacity of the tires on the vehicles. On average, these RVs were overloaded by over 900 pounds based on manufacturer specifications. In a separate survey conducted by Bridgestone / Firestone, 4 out of 5 RVs had at least one under inflated tire, a third of which were dangerously under inflated and at risk of failure. Most of the weight was on the rear. 40% of all rear tires were overloaded. Improper weight distribution resulted in 28% of all motor homes being out of balance by 400 pounds or more from one axle end to the other.

With multiple slide out rooms, amenities like washers and dryers, holding tank capacities and the ample amount of storage space available on modern RVs it’s easy to see why so many RVs are overloaded. Add this to the fact that many RVs are already close to capacity when they leave the factory and the problem is magnified. The purpose of this article is to improve consumer awareness and safety on a topic that is confusing and many times not even brought up. Overloaded RVs are extremely dangerous. That’s the bottom line.

Driving or towing an overloaded RV is a leading cause for RV accidents. The suspension system, tires, wheels, brakes, axles, and the RV itself all have weight ratings. Weight ratings are established by the manufacturer and are based on the weakest link in the chain. When you exceed a weight rating you are overloading one or more components on the RV and risk wearing the component out prematurely or complete failure of the component.

Find scales where you can weigh your RV. This shouldn’t be a problem; you can look in the Yellow Pages under moving and storage companies, gravel pits and commercial truck stops. There are several different kinds of scales. What is important is to find scales where you can weigh individual wheel positions in addition to the overall weight, and the axle weights. Always keep in mind that weighing your RV is a snapshot in time. Weights can and do change according to how you load and distribute the weight in your RV and on many other factors. You should get in the practice of weighing your RV periodically to stay within all weight ratings. Whenever an overload condition exists resolve the problem before using your RV.

Picking the Perfect National Park for Your Vacation

Gepost door admin op 13/11/2007
Toegevoegd onder: Internet Recreation Resources

There are so many decisions that go into choosing a vacation destination. When it involves more than just you and your friend or significant other, it seems to get even more complicated. Short and even family vacations should not drive you to drink or pulling all your hair out. These are just a few tips to help you make your choice a little less stressful.

The first and easiest thing to ask yourself is what you and the people you will be going with like to do? Are you totally outdoor people, strictly indoor types, or a combination? Are all of you athletic or in good shape? Do you like hot weather, mild or cold seasons? Is sightseeing something you would like on your agenda or are you strictly an activity oriented type? Do you enjoy ruggedness or do you want more comfort? Do you like camping, fishing, backpacking, hiking, rock climbing, horseback riding, bird watching, wildlife viewing, history, learning how some of the unique formations in the parks came to be there, snorkeling, swimming, scuba diving, sailing, boating, kayaking, whitewater rafting, photography, hunting, or just lazing around beautiful places?

The next thing to consider is how much do you have to spend and how much time will you have. There are so many national parks and monuments that are relatively close to people that it is not expensive to get yourself there. Some of the exciting wilderness areas in Alaska can be expensive to get to, but if you have the money and enjoy the great outdoors, it is certainly worth going for an incredible experience you will not soon forget.

That being said, it only remains to pick your destination. Bear in mind, that almost any area has inexpensive travel options and moves up from there to more expensive ones. Also, just because you’re going to a national park, does not mean you have to ‘rough it’. There are plenty of options for day hiking, climbing, fishing, water sports, etc. that do not involve sitting by a campfire enjoying the great outdoors if that is just not your style.

Camping is generally believed to be the cheapest type of a vacation after you make the initial investment of camping supplies. This can be a tidy sum, but remember that the equipment usually lasts for quite a few years. It is generally true that camping fees at the parks are cheaper than an average hotel room. And if you own an RV, you can camp in true comfort. Most campgrounds are situated in gorgeous surroundings and allow you easy access to the park’s highlights. There are very few parks that don’t have some kind of campgrounds. Also, when you camp, you usually cook your own food which also saves you money. And no, you don’t have to eat hotdogs all week unless that is what you love!

Now, if you live in the Midwest, there are plenty of park options within driving distances that take no more than twelve hours or less, depending where you live. Of course, you can always choose to fly anywhere, but some parks are a little distant from the nearest airport. Driving allows you the luxury of taking along everything you think you need for a comfortable stay.

My favorite pick for the Midwest is Great Smoky Mountains National Park. This is hands down one of the best all-around parks for the family. It falls within the states of Tennessee and North Carolina. You can choose to rough it on the Appalachian Trail, camp out in a developed campground or wilderness, or stay in anywhere from luxurious suites to nice inexpensive hotels in nearby Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, TN. And, speaking of Pigeon Forge, you have Dollywood and all the innumerable attractions they offer in the area. On the North Carolina side you have more campgrounds, the city of Cherokee that has several Indian souvenirs and museums, whitewater rafting and fly fishing (the last two are actually offered in both states). The mountains are absolutely beautiful and make for great photo ops.

Another great choice is Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore and State Park. They also have camping and wildlife viewing, especially bird watching. A unique shoreline allows for walking on the beach or swimming in Lake Michigan. They even have areas for you to bring your own horses and go horseback riding. For those of you that enjoy sightseeing and history, you can see the five World’s Fair houses from 1933 or attend the Gathering At Calumic in early May, where Eastern Woodland Indians and Western Great Lakes fur traders and Voyageurs reenact what life was like along the Calumet River from 1730-1830.

If you enjoy boating, there are several places in the Midwest, but the two northern ones are Voyageurs National Park and Isle Royale National Park. Voyageurs is in Minnesota and Isle Royale is off of the northern coast of Michigan in Lake Superior. Both offer great wilderness adventures as well as canoeing, kayaking, motor boating and fishing opportunities. Voyageurs is considered a water park meaning you have to take a boat over to the actual park, but it is a short journey. There are places to camp out or lodges to stay at that will help equip you, enabling you to boat around the waterways and find those great fishing spots or spy wildlife. Isle Royale is a long boat ride or a short “puddle jumper” flight. It has wilderness camping only, but also has a lodge for those who only enjoy day hiking and some comfort. There’s kayaking, fishing, backpacking, wildlife, with the longest running research program studying wolves and moose, scuba diving, and ship wrecks. It is truly a unique ecosystem to observe.

The Western US has much more to offer in national parks. The most famous is Yellowstone where you will see Old Faithful and lots of other geothermal marvels and one of the few places in the lower 48 to observe grizzly bears up close. You’ll also see bison roaming very close by so be careful. It is located on the border of Wyoming and Montana. There are numerous ranches and lodges to stay at or you can camp out in the park. There is also great fly fishing, kayaking, climbing and backpacking. Another biggie is Grand Canyon National Park. This one is in Arizona, again on the border of Arizona and Nevada, but also close to the southern Utah border. It is part of the Grand Staircase, an immense sequence of sedimentary rock layers that runs south from Bryce Canyon National Park, through Zion National Park (both in Utah) and ends at the Grand Canyon. There is camping, backpacking, day hiking, whitewater rafting, and plenty of photography opportunities.

Other great parks (although all of them are super places to visit) in the west, are Yosemite, Channel Islands, Redwood, Arches, Olympic, Grand Teton, Canyonlands, Rocky Mountain, Black Canyon of the Gunnison, Mesa Verde, Crater Lake, Mt. Rainier, and Sequoia. All of these have great wide spread activities that will suit any vacationers’ needs and desires. Please check out our individual park pages for further information on each of these superb parks.

The Eastern United States also offer splendid options for vacationing. Acadia National Park in Maine has unsurpassed northern oceanside views and cliff climbing that you won’t find in other parks. There’s also fishing, island exploring, hiking and beautiful gardens to gaze upon. Further down the eastern side is Shenandoah National Park in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. The Appalachian Trail runs through the park for 101 miles giving you plenty of hiking and backpacking options. There’s also camping, fishing, bird watching and horseback riding.

In Florida, you will find three national parks and one preserve with the most famous being Everglades. Everglades is so much more then what you’ve seen on TV. The wildlife is phenomenal and makes it easy to get some great animal and bird shots. There’s also wilderness camping, (watch out for alligators!) canoeing, fishing, airboat rides, hiking, and rare as well as beautiful flora. Big Cypress National Preserve is right by Everglades and is very similar, but also offers cypress stands, mangrove forests, endangered species of wildlife like the peregrine falcon and the Florida panther. Activities include fishing, biking, canoeing, hiking, and hunting. Biscayne National Park is off of the eastern tip of southern Florida. As the world’s third-longest coral reef tract, there are snorkeling, scuba diving trips, sailing, swimming, fishing, canoeing and kayaking opportunities, making it a celebrated national park vacation for family vacations or outdoor adventure-seeking spring break crowds. Dry Tortugas National Park is a unique park preserving Fort Jefferson that was built during the Civil War but never finished, and the nesting places of terns and sea turtles. You will be able to enjoy Key West snorkeling, saltwater fishing, swimming, lighthouses, ship wreaks, hiking, beach camping, boating, scuba diving, bird watching, and underwater photography of some of the best coral reef and marine life areas down in Southern Florida.

Again, I want to stress that this has been just an overview of some of the impressive parks to be seen in our national parks system. I urge you to dig into our site and read some of the park pages for the areas you are interested in visiting to find the perfect place for you to enjoy a wonderful vacation full of memories and remarkable photographs. A lot of the research has already been done for you, so dive in! With the national parks, your choices are truly endless.
