A Real Clown or Not? how to tell if you’re a real clown, as

Gepost door admin op 30/10/2008

No true clown wants to scare a child. However, some children can and do grow up with a Fear Of Clowns– the clinical name for this is coulraphobia. The question is, how can professional clowns prevent children from being scared?

Before even discussing make-up, let’s look at some basics. Remember when dealing with children, all adults are “giant-sized” from their perspective. When interacting with children, clowns (or other children’s entertainers) need to come to their level physically. Get down on one knee, or sit on the floor. Remember what it felt like to be that age.

In a related note, never force a frightened child to come by the clown. Parents will very often try to push an obviously frightened child to go by the clown, often for a photograph. Something I try to do in this situation is to act frightened myself, greatly exaggerating my “fear” while explaining to the parents that I get really scared by little kids when they’re frightened. This serves several purposes — it makes the clown the scaredy cat and lets the child off the hook, it reflects the fear to the child and allows him to be brave in comparison to the clown, and it allows the clown to “lower himself” and raise the child up. Of course, it also gets the message across to Mom & Dad — when the child is ready, he or she will willingly come by the clown, and the experience will be the happy one the parents wanted in the first place.

(originally published at http://www.clown-ministry.com/Articles/fear-of-a-clown.html)

Finally, think about your clown make up. Remember that the purpose of clown make up is to amplify your own natural features. Do not overdo your make up — remember, less is more. You want to entertain children, not frighten them.

Another Week, Another Newsletter to Write…
By Jessica Albon
Copyright 2004, The Write Exposure

Are you at the end of your rope when it comes to writing your newsletter? Do you sit and stare at that little blinking cursor?

Even the most prolific newsletter publishers face times when they just can’t stand the thought of writing another issue. The next time that feeling strikes, use these three techniques to pull yourself out of it.

………………………………..
Renew your commitment to discipline
………………………………..
There’s something to be said for forcing yourself to do something, even when you don’t want to. Whether that’s exercising your muscles, getting up an hour earlier, or keeping your promise to readers to get your newsletter out on time, you’ll shore up your personal integrity by honoring the commitments you make.

If just the thought of training yourself to become better disciplined isn’t enough, consider this question asked by Sam Horn in her book, ConZentration: What will I remember a year from now?

Will you remember that you played hookey for a day? Or will you remember that you got your newsletter out on time, every time, for the entire year?

………………………………..
Pare down the newsletter
………………………………..
Last year, I was writing two feature articles per issue. And though the newsletter came out less frequently, I was still writing both articles at the same time. It was simply too much writing for me.

So many of my clients feel they have to put out a long newsletter or not bother. In reality, just as you’re busy, so are your readers. Most publishers get better results with shorter, more frequent newsletters.

Plus, brevity makes readers happy.

………………………………..
Use a content formula that makes sense
………………………………..
If you hate to write, arrange your newsletter so there’s a minimum of it to do. For instance, if you can include photos that’ll communicate your point instead, use them. If you can run interviews instead of articles, conduct interviews.

Find articles that are easy for you to write and write them. You’ll find your readers genuinely notice the difference between a happy writer and a miserable one. They respond better when you make the newsletter easy. No one wants to feel guilty for making you suffer.

A Lot Like Love

Ashton Kutcher isn’t a great actor. Let’s face it — he isn’t going to win any acting awards anytime in the near future. However he is quite competent at playing variations of Kelso — the character that made him famous on the hit FOX series ‘That 70’s Show.’ Kelso is bumbling, inept and manages to possess an uncanny combination of insecurity and confidence. Kutcher’s film roles don’t stray much from that formula and his character Oliver in his new movie ‘A Lot Like Love’ isn’t an exception to the rule. While being light-years ahead of Kelso in the intelligence department he has all the other characteristics that make him just as endearing and lovable and fun to watch.

Amanda Peet’s character Emily is just as bumbling, inept and simultaneously sure and unsure of herself as Oliver. The relationship that develops between the two works because they seem like twin souls that were destined to meet and no amount of time or separation will change the fact that they are made for each other. The movie also works because the chemistry between Kutcher and Peet is palpable and one could easily believe that the two would make a great couple off screen as well.

Taking place over a seven year span Emily and Oliver have several short and not so chance encounters that take place after an initial chance and very memorable meeting on a plane as they travel from Los Angeles to New York. Unlike most romantic comedies, their relationship is allowed to develop over the course of the plot, and while they never have that much time together their initial friendship and later romance seems natural and believable.

The film could have easily fallen into the trap of many romantic comedies that force the audience to believe that two completely different individuals manage to fall madly in love with each other in a matter of days, despite overwhelming odds and all the obvious signs that they are completely wrong for each other. Hell, in many romantic comedies the characters know they are in love long before the audience can figure out why they even like each other let alone are in love. In ‘A Lot Like Love,’ the audience recognizes how right the characters are for one another before they are willing to make such an admission to themselves. Watching Oliver and Emily struggle with their pride and plans, and the natural fear that comes with putting your heart on the line, is sweet and endearing and tugs at your heartstrings without feeling forced or contrived.

The movie also doesn’t shy away from how imperfect the characters are. Emily has a problem with being by herself and has to confirm she “still has it” by hooking up with the first guy she meets when a relationship has ended. And Oliver doesn’t know how to live in the moment and must plan every aspect of his life well in advance or he is unable to function. Their flaws are realistic and they experience many of the problems young twenty somethings face as they try to find their way in life and love which adds to the convincing nature of the story and its characters.

The movie isn’t perfect. There’s some dialogue that I could have lived without and the attempt by Oliver to get Emily back via a musical serenade outside of her home is an over-used movie device that has seemed cliched ever since John Cusack’s boom box blasted out Peter Gabriel on the lawn of Ione Skye’s house in ‘Say Anything.’

But I will admit I was pleasantly surprised at how entertaining I found ‘A Lot Like Love.’ I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a smart, funny, innovative comedy about looking for, finding, and knowing when to take hold of the love that lies right within your grasp.

United States Raked Over the Coals in United Nation Judicial

Drone aircraft and illegal missiles uncovered by Weapons Inspectors fail to contribute to a body of evidence establishing reasonable doubt that Iraq is not currently engaged in secretly preparing an arsenal of deadly chemical agents.

Can someone explain to me why the United States of America is on trial in the current United Nations Judicial proceedings concerning possible war in Iraq. I simply do not understand how blatantly obvious glaring facts seem to be overlooked in the United Nations Judicial proceedings concerning a possible war in Iraq. The United States is currently being raked over hot coals in the United Nations Judicial Proceedings.

As I remember, Iraq President Saddam Hussein once claimed the United Nations is dominated, controlled by, and exist as a puppet of the all-powerful United States superpower. On the contrary, recent United Nations deliberations seem to demonstrate that Iraq is in control of the United Nations.

Iraq has engaged in a pattern of military aggression in the Middle East that eventually lead to an United Nations legal provision for weapons inspections to disarm Iraq. Iraq has the burden of providing prove that Iraq is in full compliance with United Nations provisions lawfully mandated by the United Nations in the 1990’s to insure full and compete military disarmament of Iraq.

In the 1990’s weapons inspections failed and the U.N. weapons inspection team was cast out of Iraq. The most recent effort to reestablish the United Nations Weapons Inspection process has lead to the discovery of illegal missiles and drone aircraft capable of carrying lethal biological agents.

Iraq must establish reasonable doubt that it is not currently manufacturing lethal deadly chemical agents to be used in a military attack of its Middle East neighbors. Drone aircraft and illegal missiles uncovered by Weapons Inspectors fail to contribute to a body of evidence establishing reasonable doubt that Iraq is not currently engaged in secretly preparing an arsenal of deadly chemical agents. Iraq’s possession of illegal weapons does not help Iraq establish reasonable doubt of future aggressive Middle East military actions.

I feel sorry for the United Nations Inspection Team lead by Hans Blix. The weapons inspections team lead by Hans Blix is in the hot seat. The lives of millions of innocent people rest in the hands of the United Nations Inspection Team lead by Hans Blix.

In my freelance feature article entitled, Oil Producing Nations Should Want Greater Stability in the Middle East, I discuss a new class of scientific instrumentation that Iraq may soon acquire. The following is a highly relevant excerpt:

Scanning Probe Microscopes (STM) are a new class of scientific instrumentation that allow scientist to manipulate and reconfigure molecular bonds in the molecular arrangement of a chemical compounds. Laboratory processes that use to require an entire fully equipped laboratory filled with big bulky laboratory equipment can now be performed with a computer chip.

The new class of scientific instrumentation can make laboratories that produce deadly chemical agents more mobile. The new class of scientific instrumentation may make the job of weapons inspectors, either now or in the near future, a virtually impossible task.

The United Nations Inspection Team should also consider that, in addition to making laboratories more mobile, a new class of scientific instrumentation may dramatically speed up rate of manufacture of lethal chemical agents. Eventually, Iraq may be able to produce gallons of the deadly chemical by the minute.

Bookmark this page now, than click here to read the freelance feature article entitled, Oil Producing Nations Should Want Greater Stability in the Middle East, currently available on www.ideamarketers.com.

What will happen when an Ultra Conservative Religious State that feels increasingly isolated from the rest of the developing world acquires new scientific instrumentation that allows the isolated nation to dramatically step up production of deadly chemical agents is something to ponder. Hence, my peace plan provides for a provision for special high level government commission to insure protection of ultra conservative religious states from negative effects of democratization. An assurance of protection from negative effects of lax permissive democratization upon Ultra Conservative Religious States may prevent Ultra Conservative Religious States, like Iraq, from becoming isolated due to feeling pitted against the developing world.

The CBS News Broadcast 60 Minutes aired an episode about how the old Soviet Union during the height of the Cold War constructed a special nuclear weapons manufacturing facility hidden inside a mountain that produced an atomic bomb every hour. The nuclear bomb manufacturing facility was so automated that bomb production processes could not be stopped at the end of the Cold War.

Eventually, the old Soviet Union asked for technical help from the United States to safely dismantle the nuclear bomb manufacturing facility. Today, Russia and the United States works as a team on the space laboratory.

Perhaps, the United States is being raked over the hot coals in current United Nations diplomacy because of a perception of unnecessary meddling in Middle East affairs. The United States may be perceived as interfering in political affairs of the Middle East.

Obviously, United States lawmakers have made severe diplomatic mistakes in Middle East diplomatic affairs. The diplomatic mistakes that U.S. lawmakers have made in the Middle East region is in large measure due to the specific forms of government in the region.

Why does the United States feel it has the right to intervene in affairs of the Middle East? The Middle East region and the United States have a business relationship characterized by mutually supported interdependency. As customers who purchase large volumes of Middle East Oil, the United States spends vast sums of money in the Middle East.

It is widely recognized that large sums of money can lead to corruption. Lawmakers may feel a need to insure that the spending power exercised in the Middle East is not abused to jeopardize and endanger Middle East citizenship. U.S. lawmakers may feel a moral imperative to insure that vast sums of money spent in the Middle East is not used to compromise the lives of innocent citizens.

The politics of the Middle East region is very complicated. Government of the Middle East primarily exist as Ultra Conservative Religious Monarchies. Ultra Conservative Religious Monarchies do not provide an adequate system to allow transition of governmental authority and power when an Ultra Conservative Ruling Monarchy must be replaced for some natural reason.

Often, because a system providing for an ordered transition of government is not in place, vying political factions seeking governmental rule attempt to take control by forceful methods. In the case of Iraq, the United States helped Iraq President Saddam Hussein capture the thrown of Iraq. Obviously, United States lawmakers made a mistake and back the wrong horse.

Lawmakers in the United States are human. Lawmakers in the United States make human mistakes. Despite advanced scientific data gathering technique, lawmakers still do not have the power to predict the future with 100 percent accuracy. The power to predict the future with 100 percent accuracy is still reserved for an all-knowing Omnipotent God or Allah.

Free democratic societies are not perfect. At some point, the goals of Ultra Conservative Religious States and free democratic societies merge. My feature article entitled, Commitment to Protect Muslim Ultra Conservative Values of Iraqi People, provides a discussion of the strengths and weaknesses of Ultra Conservative Religious States versus Free Democratic Societies.

Bookmark this page now, than click here to read the feature article entitled, Commitment to Protect Ultra Conservative Values of Iraqi People, currently posed on www.ideamarketers.com.

The degree that Ultra Conservative Religious States and free democratic societies share common goals is debatable. A special high level government commission can study how to protect Ultra Conservative Religious States from the negative aspects of democratization. High level government commissions can be used as a tool for peace.

My understanding is that even while Osma Bin Laden fought to repel a communist invasion of Afghanistan with military help of the United States, Osma Bin Laden clung to hatred of the lax permissive free democratic government of the United States. It is unfortunate Osma Bin Laden did not recognize diplomatic methods to protect Ultra Conservative Religious Muslim States of the Middle East from negative effects of lax permissive democratization.

A Dying Cat And A Nylon String Guitar

“Music isn’t just learning notes and playing them, you learn notes to play to the music of your soul” - Katie Greenwood.

Why are you learning music anyway? Is it to pick up chicks? Is it to fulfill a void in your mundane life? Is it an indescribable calling?

I always wanted to learn the drums. I don’t know why, maybe it’s the aggressive nature of the things. You sit there and bash the crap out of them.

As fate would have it I shared a house with Dave, a guitar player, so I decided to learn the guitar as I had my very own teacher living in the next room. Or so I thought.

I went out and bought a nylon string classical guitar for $70. I didn’t have a clue what I was doing but that never stopped me before.

So I went back home with my new guitar in its cardboard box. And with anything new, you want to play with it straight away, as soon as you get it home.

I also bought one of those guitar case chord dictionaries. You know the ones, they have a thousand chords in them and they are designed to confuse rather than actually help you.

So I waited for Dave to get home from work and as soon as he was in the door I was at him. “I bought this new guitar and I was wondering if you could show me how to play it” I said.

He just laughed at me but eventually agreed to show me which chords to learn first. He told me to learn the open chords A, D, E, G, and C. So I did. I spent every spare moment learning these chords.

Dave wouldn’t show me any songs to play so I was forced to make up my own songs. This forced me to really explore every one of these chords as I thought at the time that I had to include them all in every song I wrote.

The songs I wrote were pretty strange to say the least. We were into punk music at that time so just imagine what a dying cat like vocals set to a nylon string out of tune guitar played as fast as a speeding train sounds like and you get the picture.

It sounded good to me at the time and I was very proud of my new found ability. It took about three months to get the hang of changing between the chords, and being able to write a song. (if you could call it that).

I didn’t know it at the time but I had the one thing that was needed that would ensure I would become a good guitar player. That one thing was sheer bloody determination. And the more people told me how bad I sounded the more determined I became to improve.

So it doesn’t matter how good or bad you are at the moment just play the music of your soul - even if it sounds like a cat being tortured. You will improve as long as you keep trying. Here’s a mental exercise for you. Fast forward your mind to 4 years from now. How good a guitar player will you be? The time will pass regardless of what you do. Are you going to keep at it? or are you going to give up? It’s up to you. You will be four years older, but will you be four years wiser?

Gum Disease - Detection and Diagnosis

Gum Disease - Detection and Diagnosis Gum disease, or periodontal disease, happens when the body’s immune system responds aggressively to the presence of certain destructive, plaque-causing bacteria on the surface of the teeth. This results in inflammation of gum tissue, which eventually causes the gums to recede and the underlying bone to deteriorate.

Gum disease can be caused by a number of factors, but is largely due to poor dental hygiene. Other factors, such as diabetes, use of tobacco products, poor nutrition (particularly a lack of sufficient vitamin C), age and genetics can play a part. Although it’s estimated that as many as half of all Americans over the age of 30 may suffer from periodontal disease, it has been known to afflict children as young as 10.

One of the dangers of gum disease is the fact that in many cases, it can be asymptomatic. There is usually little or no pain associated with periodontal disease, therefore many patients may not realize they are suffering from it.

Some more obvious symptoms may include bleeding gums during tooth brushing and/or red, irritated gums. Such patients may also notice that their teeth seem to have grown longer; this however is an illusion, caused by receding of the gum tissues. Persistent halitosis, or bad breath, can also be a symptom, as well as a bitter metallic taste that refuses to go away.

The most obvious signs of periodontal disease however is teeth that have become loose, or the development of gaps between teeth. If you wear dentures, you may also notice that they do not fit as well as they once did.

Patients who note these symptoms should have a dental checkup by a dentist who specializes in periodontics. These specialists have a number of methods and tools they are able to use in the diagnosis of gum disease. This typically starts with a detailed inspection of the teeth and gums for color, firmness and any loose individual teeth. The periodontist will also take detailed x-rays of the jaw and upper teeth to see in there has been actual bone loss.

The most common test for periodontal disease involves periodontal probing. The dental technician uses a special instrument to measure any space that has developed between gum tissue and the surface of the teeth, or enamel.

Untreated, gun disease can lead to serious health problems that go far beyond the teeth, gums and jaw. However, there are numerous effective treatments that enable periodontists to restore patients’ gums and teeth, which are discussed in a subsequent article in this series

Large Digital Photo Frames

We’re so used to looking at standard photo frames displaying 6″ x 4″ photographs that it’s a nice change to see a photograph blown up to 10″ and put inside a larger frame. The effort in doing that, however, is quite a lot and it’d be a feat to find space for all your favourite photographs once they’ve been blow up to that size. Now with the 10″ digital photo frame you only need to find one space for all your photos, providing you have a digital copy of them and can get them onto a memory card or USB stick.

Simply transfer all the .JPEG digital image files onto the memory card or USB stick and slot that device into the 10″ digital photo frame. It will read them and begin to display them in a customizable slideshow subject to your preferences. Now every single photograph is blown up to 10″ with perfect screen resolution and no distortion. You don’t even need to leave your own home, or indeed even your seat to display all your favourite personal photographs. Most 10″ digital picture frames also come with a stand and two wall mounting holes on the back so that you can choose where the photographs are displayed within your home.

It was nice to have your digital images cycling through on a computer screensaver but now you can have those photographs displayed proudly and purposefully on a wall, shelf or coffee table and they will stay there while you carry on using your computer. Big photographs don’t have to take up a ton of space within your home anymore.

Many of the banks wil show you a interest rate that is looking fairish but feels bad or so after a while. A merchant bank in Muskegon Michigan or so can have a total totally different actual loan rate for a 32500 dollar bank loan then a bank in Eden Prairie Minnesota and that makes a huge clear gap in your monthly costs. At this present you can suss out interest rates quickly online and interpret if there are possible sneaky traps you should be aware of.

now you need to go out and get a line if you can have a money loan at a honorable percent rate. 10.5 percent loan rate may come along so sightly but will that be unalterable after you’re going to return your deferred payment. 7 Poker Mistakes

Do You Make These 7 Poker Mistakes?
By Rory Monahan

Here are the seven mistakes to
avoid:

1. Getting Too Emotional

2. Focusing Too Much On The Cards

3. Folding Instead Of Checking

4. Trying Too Hard To “Fool” The Opponent

5. Being Too Consistent

6. Not Adapting To The Skill Level Of Others

7. Not Getting Help.

1. Getting Too Emotional

Don’t let your emotions come out at the
card table!

It’s easy to get “into” the game, but
you’ve got to practice self-control!

By staying cool, calm, and disciplined,
you’ll be able to concentrate on your
strategy and winning the hand.

2. Focusing Too Much On The Cards

Remember, poker is about the PLAYERS
rather than the HANDS. Sure, what cards
you have is definitely important, but the
only way to consistently WIN Texas Hold
‘EM poker is if you are able to “read”
the other players at the table.

Study their habits, watch their faces,
observe their peculiarities… and THEN
focus on your own hand.

3. Folding Instead Of Checking

Don’t fold if you can check! Unless it’s
part of some “bigger strategy” you’ve got
going (like the ones I talk about in my
book), then it’s silly to fold a hand when
you can just check instead.

4. Trying Too Hard To “Fool” The Opponent

Many beginners try to deliberately “fool”
the other players by “acting” a certain way.

This usually backfires.

Most people are good at reading body language,
and your pretending will only give you away.

A better strategy is to let your ACTIONS
fool the other players. Keep your poker
face straight and calm and let them fall
for the bait by making bets or placing action
in ways that will confuse them.

5. Being Too Consistent

The easiest way to win easy money at the
poker table is to just study a person’s
habits for awhile, and then take advantage
of them hand-by-hand because they’re so
predictable.

Don’t be this kind of sucker!

If you make the same moves and same bets
at the table every time you play, other
players will pick up on it so fast that
you’ll be out of chips in no time.

Be “spontaneous” in a calculated way, and
be unpredictable. It will frustrate the
other players… and you’ll win all their
chips.

6. Not Adapting To The Skill Level Of Others

Everyone knows that some of poker’s greats
are most frequently beat by BEGINNING players
at the card table.

A lot of professionals refuse to play with
“newbies” because they know there’s such a
high risk of losing and being embarrassed.

So how exactly can these beginners beat these
PROS?

It’s simple.

The pros are SO MUCH BETTER at poker, that
they are actually FOOLED by how BAD these
new players are.

The pros are USED TO playing against other
pros… which makes it difficult for them to
even “remember” how to play against beginners.

Every card table is different. You need to
learn how to adapt your game to each different
situation…

Sometimes you’ll have to increase the
complexity of your strategy. Other times
you’ll need to “dumb down” the strategy
and only focus on the habits of the players.

7. Not Getting Help.

You weren’t BORN knowing how to play Texas
Hold ‘Em. You were TAUGHT how to play.

The problem is, most players never bother to
take their skills to the NEXT LEVEL, by
getting professional instruction.

In less than a few hours, you can increase
your skill at this game TREMENDOUSLY.

You can win more pots… night after night…
and discover the secrets to making tons of
cash playing poker in your spare time.

I’ve been playing this game for over 13 years,
and I can show you the way.

But it’s up to YOU to take the next step.
