It’s difficult to admit now that I sit here and think about it,
I had not thought about her in years. Now she is just a bit of
memory brought forward by a chance remark in a conversation.
However, she was able to step out of that bit of memory that was
hers, as if she was still sitting in the sunroom waiting for me.
It had been my routine to spend a month in the summer with my
grandmother so she could make my wardrobe for the next school
year. Next door lived Mrs. Moses. She though widowed years
before but as many of her generation she endured that loss with
the hallmark intrepidity that kept them going. She was well into
her eighties, however, she kept a little vegetable garden, along
with a few flowers; she still cooked and cleaned her home. My
grandmother, being the junior of the two, looked in on her and
together they would go “up the hill” for ice cream and gossip.
Together they would sit on the porch every evening and watch the
business of the day pass, as well as comment on the state of
young ladies, their lack of decorum.
“Susie, don’t you think you should put on some clothes?”
“I’m fine, Grandma, really.” Eyes roll up.
“There, that right there, Amy, is why the world is going to
Hades in a three handled basket.” Mrs. Moses and Grandma would
both release long tortured sighs. “I just don’t know, Amy, we
would never have rolled our eyes at our elders like that. Never.”
“And if we did, Millie, it would have been the woodshed.” I
never won one of these exchanges so I would cut my loses as
painlessly as possible.
“I’m sorry, Grandma and Miss Millie, I didn’t mean any
disrespect,” kissing them both, apologizing once more, and
removing my halter-topped, cut-off shorted self before they
could throw a quilt over me.
These were our summers for a number of years, summers and
holidays. Until the fall I came to live with my grandmother to
attend college. It was that year Mrs. Moses’ children decided
she would be better off in a nursing home. This, of course, was
for her own good because she would be well taken care of. I
could understand, I guess, if she had slipped into dementia
often categorized by advanced years or if she was physically
impaired but she was as vital and vigorous as ever. My
grandmother was furious! She called mother and my uncle making
them take what just fell short of a blood oath that they would
never cart her off to some home and dump her. After she finished
with them, she turned her attentions to me deeming me the only
grandchild possessing common sense.
“Susie, if you allow anyone to do this to me I promise that I
will come back to haunt you and every generation that issues
from you.”
“Yes, ma’am, I would never do that, Grandma, never!” I said with
all the love (ok, fear, the woman could probably make good the
threat) possible.
The added affront was the fact that they did not put her in a
facility close to any of the children nor her hometown. After
the first Christmas, they never visited again.
I made it a habit, albeit a happy one, to stop in and visit Mrs.
Moses at least three times a week, depending on my work and
social schedules. It was some time in the spring that I noticed
the change, so subtle. First, she began to call me “Sissy.”
Susie, Sissy, it’s Texas, they’re the same. However, as the
earth swung into summer she began to talk to me about people I
didn’t know, of whom I’d never heard. It wasn’t until the
midsummer that I realized that she had fallen back in time. I
was her older sister; together we relived her teenage years.
It was like walking into “The Twilight Zone.” She was physically
as healthy as always, age had made her a bit frail, but she was
capable of performing every activity. The only difference was
her surroundings were not the 20th century nursing home but 19th
century Evans. We talked of cotillions, “at homes,” debutante
balls, socials, and boys (some things never change). We walked
together as she relived the death of a younger brother to
scarlet fever, of baptisms in the river, of marriages, and
births. Many times I would giggled, as she admitted purposely
showing an ankle or putting rouge on her lips and how old
fashioned “our” parents were.
Probably the sweetest occurred on my wedding day. She was unable
to attend the ceremony. After the official reception was
completed we brought the left over cakes, punch, and most of the
wedding party to the retirement home. She was the belle of the
ball at her “Sissy’s” wedding. We danced, we sang, we laughed
and at the end she managed to catch the bouquet.
She lived in this world for seven more years before she went to
join those she loved. I remember at her funeral someone
mentioned how tragic her last days were because all she had was
faded memories. I smiled because I knew they weren’t faded
memories, but favored memories.

DefensePro Proven to Offer Comprehensive
href="http://www.radware.com/content/solutions/application-securi
ty/Default.asp" rel="nofollow"> Application Security and Performance
Capabilities at High Throughput Speeds
Helping organizations secure, optimize and ensure performance
for mission critical applications, Radware (NASDAQ: RDWR) the
leading provider of Intelligent Application Switching solutions,
announced that recent independent tests by The Tolly Group
confirm that DefensePro offers comprehensive
href="http://www.radware.com/content/products/apsolute_os/default
.asp" rel="nofollow"> Intrusion Prevention Switch (IPS) capabilities.
Results showed that DefensePro not only provides standard IPS
capabilities to isolate, block and prevent attacks at 2.5 Gbps
throughput, but also offers advanced security intelligence
features such as attack isolation, traffic shaping,
bi-directional SSL inspection, Denial of Service Protection,
Mass Mailing Protection and protection against Evasion
Techniques, that ensure application performance and reliability
even while the network is under attack.
Realizing that application security involves more than strictly
blocking malicious content, Radware enlisted The Tolly Group to
conduct a series of real-world tests that examined the
DefensePro 3000’s ability to thwart attacks and still ensure the
availability and performance of mission critical applications.
In standard IPS performance tests, Radware solutions were proven
to secure mission critical applications in real time across
high-speed and high capacity environments. Recognition was noted
to Radware on the company’s integration of Intrusion Prevention
and Denial of Service protection in one device as well as the
ability to mitigate SSL-based attacks and SMTP mass mailing
attacks.
“To guarantee both network security and application performance
and reliability, an IPS solution needs to go beyond just
blocking or preventing attacks,” said Assaf Ronen, VP R&D of
Radware. “Advanced security features like bandwidth management
and attack isolation should be a requirement in any IPS
solution, so that organizations can ensure end-to-end security
and performance of their mission critical applications - even
while in the throes of an attack. The Tolly Group’s tests
confirmed that DefensePro’s advanced security features can block
all manner of attacks while leaving these mission-critical
applications unaffected.”
The Tolly Group tests underscored the unique capabilities of
DefensePro 3000 and concluded that:
DefensePro blocked application attacks at an unmatched speed of
2.5 Gigabits per second by identifying and mitigating protocol
and traffic anomalies in real-time.
DefensePro’s unique bandwidth management capability was able to
isolate attacks by dynamically managing bandwidth to stop
propagation across users and resources while ensuring complete
continuity and performance of all secure traffic to proactively
control impact and limit damage.
DefensePro prevented DoS/DDoS attacks and SYN floods,
safeguarding against illicit traffic patterns and hacking.
DefensePro also leveraged a wide range of DoS protection
capabilities including packet-based attacks, TCP, UDP and ICMP
flood protection and DHCP flood protection.
“DefensePro ranks among the strongest providers of IPS solutions
we have reviewed before,” stated Kevin Tolly, president/CEO of
The Tolly Group. “With features like bandwidth management, SSL
and evasion attack capabilities and multi-segment protection,
Radware provides a solid package of cost effective application
security and performance for organizations.”

To a large extent the holidays have come to be more about materialism than the original values of peace, harmony, and faith. Advertisers hit us from all sides with messages of greed and pettiness. Every media outlet is rife with the idea, “buy this, or they wont love you.”
In such an age, it is important to remind the children about the true meaning of the season. This can be done, to some extent, by helping them to build their own gifts to give to others, and teaching them what the true value of a gift is. This has several major benefits.
1. In building the gift you will be spending time with the child doing something constructive.
2. It will teach them the value of money. The item they buy would have to be made just like the item they make themselves. Money doesn’t just appear it has to be earned, and then traded. So money is trading work, for work.
3. It will engage their imaginations and creativity.
4. The gift they create will be much more meaningful, and you should let them know that.
As you can see, there are a ton of benefits to having your child build a gift themselves. At a young age this is obvious, but even as they grow older and into their teens this should be something you encourage.
Building a gift is easy. Different levels of skill can accomplish different things of course, but the mediums are fairly similar across all ages.
You can encourage the child to make you a card or a picture. You can give them clay or plaster and let them sculpt. Or you can suggest they write you a poem, or a story, or frame some nice pictures they take.
You should play to the child’s interests. If you get them started on an art form for a single project, it could click and give them a hobby for years to come, while expanding their horizons. Try and get them to be creative, and stretch their limits. Most important of all, be encouraging, the child is a new artist, and so will be hesitant about their work. This is your chance to help their self esteem at the early stages of a new craft.

“What do you want in life?”
How often do you ask yourself this question? Do you ever ask yourself this question? Why is it that we’ll sacrifice our time, energy and happiness for another’s well being, but we won’t put that same energy into our own happiness. Have you forgotten over the years what truly makes you happy, what little things bring you joy? Sometimes we end up living a life we thought others wanted us to live, instead of a life we were meant to live. Are you going through the motions, just for the sake of ‘getting by’? That is fine as long as you understand by doing so you will continue to get the same results. That being a life where you are going along for the ride instead of choosing which ride you want to go on. Are you ready to live your life, to embrace the “little moments” that bring you joy? All you need is the desire, commitment and drive to take control of your life again.
ACTION TIPS FOR THE WEEK:
1. Create a list
The first thing you need to do is brainstorm a list of everything and anything that brings you joy. What would you love to incorporate into your life? What do you want more of in your life? This is your life, so commit to living a life embracing what you truly enjoy and feel passionate about.
2. What changes need to be made?
In order to create what you do want in your life, you need to make room for it. What obligations do you have that create more stress than joy? Decide what you can let go of in order to plug in the activities you enjoy. Decide if you need to get rid of the obligations all together or delegate them to someone else.
3. Create support structure
In order to succeed, you need a supportive environment. Make sure your significant other and/or friends know what you need from them. Having a support team will make a world of difference in your long term outcome.
Have a great week!

What are the mechanics of a bridging loan and what should the consumer concern themselves with? The often advised considerations of a bridging loan are to confirm the rate payable, depending on charge type anything between .95% on first charge upwards to 1.75% on second charge and/or blended rate. Since Mday (31/10/2004) within the United Kingdom and the involvement of the FSA all charges will be clearly identified within a KFI (Key Features Illustration). There will undoubtedly be an arrangement fee of anything between 1 to 1.5% of the loan advance, however the consumer must be advised and be made aware of any ‘exit’ fees. What is also commonly overlooked by the consumer and homeowner and a vital pre requisite is an identifiable exit route out of the agreement.
Closed bridging finance is available to homeowners who have already exchanged on their intended purchase property, should completion after exchange be a drawn out affair the homeowner has the peace of mind that their property will sale i.e. an identifiable exit route.
Open bridging finance is far more high risk for the homeowner and should not be entered into lightly. This type of bridging is typically for homeowners who have found their ideal property but their sale would seem protracted and/or a buyer has not been found. Open bridging would typically attract an additional 1% over closed bridging confirming the higher risk. Lenders will also, as part of their underwriting criteria, ensure that the security property has plenty of equity. The lender would also want to see a mortgage offer along with proof that your existing property is being actively marketed.
While illustrating open bridging as somewhat high risk there are also many positives to bridging finance. There would be typically no valuation or legal fees as legal work is usually done ‘in house’. With the consumer also encroaching into the residential and commercial property auction arena, bridging loans are also an ideal means of securing the property at auction, exchange would happen on fall of the hammer and usually leaving 20 working days to completion.
Looking at the wider picture and asides from property bridging loans also offer such facilities as “buying out” a bankruptcy which can allow a consumers home and business to survive along with improving cash flow. This is also an ideal alternative to an I.V.A (Individual Voluntary Arrangement) which interferes with a credit record for a considerable period of time. In addition the fees involved in an I.V.A. can be very substantial and generally unsuitable unless there are multiple creditors.
Buy to let investments and self build projects also benefit from bridging finance. A buy to let property where a 100% retention might be imposed would be if the property is considered either uninhabitable or there is no bathroom or toilet. With self build projects or development the money is released in stages, each stage being signed off by the lenders appointed architect and then the money released.
Other instances may well be when the trustee of a deceased estate are unable to obtain probate because of unpaid taxes. if there is insufficient cash in the estate and the property can not be sold bridging is the answer. Repossessions can also be relieved even if the homeowner has received the judgment. One common misconception is that once evicted the dispossessed homeowner has lost the chance to recover their home. This is not the case as any mortgagee will want to recover their money as quickly as possible without the fuss of marketing. To calculate current bridging loan finance monthly charges on first, second and blended rates use the bridging loan calculator at http://www.mortgage-loan-uk.net/bridging_loan_calculator.htm
Mortgage-Loan-UK is a premier resource for personal finance information along with an extensive collection of mortgage related calculators. Bridging loans are available with 2 day completion plans, for more information, go to www.mortgage-loan-uk.net

Change is challenging. It impacts on people and they resist. But
sometimes they resist experiencing the feelings that accompany
change. Yet accepting and appreciating how you feel in changing
situations can help. Here’s how…
How you feel is OK. Whoever is going through any change
experience would feel the way you do, whether it is angry, sad,
frustrated etc. - all the emotions are acceptable and
understandable. It is OK in the moment to feel the way you do.
Change creates big shifts in emotions. Big shifts. Acknowledging
these shifts is a valuable part of the experience, because it
will enrich you over time and you will come through more
strongly for your new future.
These ten reasons go some way to show why it’s OK to feel how
you feel:-
1) It Broadens You
By going with a whole range of feelings and emotions, you become
a broader person - one with many more experiences. This can be
challenging as you go through it, but it will give you talents
and skills that will be useful later.
2) You Get Stronger
Passing through the more challenging feelings is tough, but as
you get through them, you become more capable of handling not
just those bad days, but also skilled at developing strategies
to cope.
3) It Authenticates You as a Person
Acknowledging the feelings you have and accepting them as OK are
very validating for who you are. Much the opposite of holding in
and trying to ignore what you are feeling.
4) It Shows Others It’s OK too
As you show your feelings, others recognise them and know that
it is OK to feel that way too. In a work experience or life in
general, big changes come to more than one person often. Groups
feel the same way - by sharing your personal experience, you
will encourage others to as well.
5) Offers of Help Come
If you show that you are OK with the feelings you have and
express this outwardly, others will show up to help you; to
listen; to support and to co-create solutions and positive
outcomes. Just discussing how you are feeling with others is a
marvellous healer, Accepting help from others is a magical way
to build relationships too.
6) You Let it Out
Letting out how you feel delivers relief. The act of shouting it
(really!) helps. You will find solace in expressing yourself
from the rooftops and remember that it’s OK to be like this!
It’s part of feeling the real feelings, which helps you feel
heard.
7) You are Learning
As you understand your own emotions, you are learning about your
own capacity to cope and manage. This is a valuable resource to
acknowledge. The learning you get from one challenging
experience will enable you to generate a personal stategy for
yourself (and others) for the future.
As You Change You Open to Options
Once you go down the dismal hump of disappointment and
appreciate why you are going down and down, you start to realise
that you have within you the choice of new possibilities. You
can start to see that you have the power to choose how you feel
and that changing environments have no right to make you feel
badly if you choose not to. So you see the potential for the
future.
9) Accepting is Easier
And hey, if you get used to the idea that whatever you cannot
personally control is going to happen anyway, acceptance becomes
much more bearable. Accept that you can control only 100% of how
you feel and 0% of what others are in control of and you are
getting there. The earlier in a change cycle you choose to do
this the easier it will become for you.
10) You Can Help Others
And what a powerful support you can become., Realising that
feeling how you feel is OK and there is a light at the end of
every tunnel, is such a support to others. Your experience and
the value you derived from it can be such a resource to others,
who may be less enlightened. So share.
Feeling OK whenever change is imposed on you can, to the
uninitiated, be very challenging and that in itself is OK - you
can’t be expected to be perfect at stuff - this is real life!
But grasping change and deciding your own feelings is so much
more powerful - and will uplift you, and your future,
positively.

Several of the foremost of London’s restaurants are similarly stated to be some of the best on earth. Gourmets regularly do a lot to feed at these hotspots & oftentimes you will be compelled to book ahead of time to get your place, or at the very least to be amenable to park yourself in the restaurant’s bar zone for a small number of wines & beers till a space is vacant. A leading hangout to feast in is the Ping Pong restaurant - this restaurant is a trendy, modern venue to eat at. This impeccable and luscious location presents a handful of of the best Dim Sum cuisines you will come across, a remarkable range of delicious tea & excellent cocktails. If you love Dim Sum meals, this must be up there with the principal spots to graze in. Why not check out a London restaurants guide with Time Out.
Nobu is a fresh & new Japanese venue. This is their 1st UK project & it’s done superbly. Nobu’s menu is marvellous and though their dishes are occasionally small, it shouldn’t be a problem, in that you will probably get various orders - rejoice in the superb calibre instead of only the amount. Principally, this location gives you stunning menus, has tremendous waiters and a first class service.
The Electric Birdcage venue, based in Saint James Street, is a place where one’s fantasies might well go all over the place. At this great, new hangout the cuisine is made up of new Asian food & it’s been described as the place to visit - the place’s cocktails are fabulous and their top drinks ought to be sipped by the discerning. The city comes with heaps of high priced, swanky places to eat, but in spite of this it furthermore incorporates various of cheap places, & often these are considered the modest and veiled catches.
This metropolis, as is widely understood, is today an instance of one of the most exciting places of the world - even so it is sometimes costly. If you’re hunting terrific, bargain snacks then you also in an excellent setting in which to find it, provided you are looking around the right location. London has oodles of super choices - pizza grills, bargain Italian restaurants and of course many vegan places to eat. The Gourmet Burger Kitchen is a sensational burger joint influenced by the many marvellous burger restaurants situated around the United Kingdom. You’ll find each and every sort of burger one can imagine, and that means it has burgers to cater for every person. GBK is definitely fairly priced, and their plates are similarly enormous, there’s no call to get additional dishes at this venue. Masala Zone is a leading chain of contemporary Indian venues. These venues are quite low priced and provide Indian Street food, superb for those times when you have to dine, but all the same a person’s engagement mustn’t go on for too long, or on the other hand suitable for periods when you’re on the town with a crowd of buddies and you are looking for a spot with fine dining and also a vibes that’ll match it.

You’re ready… your princess has invited the belles of the ball
to the finest Princess Birthday Party of the year. You’ve
purchased decorations, planned a few games and have some lovely
take home gifts for your guests. Now it’s time to plan the
finest menu for your royal princess and her court. Let’s make it
so fabulous that the girls will remember this day when they’re
planning their future daughter’s parties and one that will make
your princess throw her hands around your neck and say, “Oh mom!
You’re the best ever!”
What follows are 5 tips for you in creating the menu of the
decade for your princess birthday party.
1. Keep it simple. The last thing you need on a busy day is for
you to be running around like crazy trying to make cherries
flambé or tiramisu with crme fraise. However, with a little
creative planning, you can make something spectacular and still
be able to take photos of the lovely girls eating your birthday
dainties. There are SO many recipes available at your fingertips
that are not only delicious but easy to make with items you
probably have in the house or can pick up in your local grocery
store at minimal cost (another key!). One of my favorite recipe
sites for quick recipes is
HREF=http://www.freequickrecipes.com rel="nofollow">http://www.freequickrecipes.
com, or you can just punch a name of a recipe into your
google search box and hundreds of recipes will pop up. Just keep
it simple!
2. Presentation is everything. Think about it, mom. A peanut
butter sandwich is nice, but, make that sandwich and cut it with
petite cookie cutters into various princessly shapes and you
have something spectacular. Even just cutting the sandwiches
with a glass into a circle and then cutting the circles in half
would work. Display them nicely on a glass plate with some red
grapes or flowers and it’s no longer just a boring sandwich but
a delicacy that’s a delight to look at AND eat.
3. Throw the “no sugar” rule out the window. Ok, I’ll get hate
mail for this one but c’mon mom! Your princess only has the bash
of the century once a year, so break the rules a little and
provide something sweet to eat. Balance it out with a lower
sugar drink and other dainties that aren’t sugar laden.
4. Make the drink pink! Pink lemonade, pink Kool-Aid, pink
soda… anything pink in a clear plastic cup and you’ll be the
coolest mom on the block. Float a half of a strawberry in the
cup and you may as well get a revolving door to your house.
You’ll be the hit of the neighborhood!
5. Work with a timeline and schedule for the day of the party. A
checklist of what you’ll be serving and when you need to pull it
out of the freezer or fridge, what goes where, etc., and how
long each thing takes will insure that you won’t forget any of
the details and insure that you won’t go to open the fridge for
a late night snack after your princess is in dream land and see
the strawberries that you meant to put in the royal goblets.
The perfect, stress free Princess party menu is within reach,
Mom. Just keep it simple, fancy, tasty and pink! Write out a
checklist and you’re all set for the finest party menu for your
princess and her royal maidens.

Running a business is about providing goods and services to human beings. Their experience with you can make the difference between a good day, a terrible day, a nothing-special day, and a “WOW” day for them! Wouldn’t you like to be the reason a client’s day changes from boring to “WOW?”
The benefits of this approach are good for everyone involved. Your client will be satisfied with your service and will therefore come back to you for repeat business. By making a great impression and exceeding expectations, you have a better chance of establishing a long-term relationship with this client, and increasing your sales. Also, you’ll be strategizing your unique positioning in the marketplace by making your business stand out from the rest. If you take the time to do something unusual and special, the client will think of you again next time.
There are many ways you can “WOW” your client, but here are five of them:
1. Remember Diary Dates
Use your database to make note of each client’s birthday, wedding anniversary, their children’s birthdays, religious celebrations and any other important dates in their life. Send a reduced-rate offer or gift voucher (to use next time they need your service) and a card to them on that day. This gesture shows your interest in a long-term relationship, not just a quick sale.
2. Offer Unique Free Extras
Think of something uncommon that is not offered in your industry. Give this to your clients for free. It should be something fun and something that makes them talk about you all over town. For example, if you’re a dentist, you may offer a $300 voucher to your clients on the third anniversary of the day they became your client. This should entitle the client to a free dental service or dental product (up to the value of $300) from you. The client should be able to spend the voucher however they wish.
3. Turn Complaints Around
Your clients won’t always be happy, but you can save their patronage by resolving their problem quickly and to their benefit. For example, if you own a restaurant and a guest is unhappy with their food, offer a free meal before they even asks. If you take care of the situation quickly and effectively, they’ll be back again.
4. Reward Referrals In A Big Way
Most small business owners simply send a thank you card to the client that sends them a referral. That’s okay if you want to be like every other business. To set your business apart from the “thank you card givers,” you can include a gift with the card. Concert tickets are fine, but a gift that enhances the client’s way of life will probably be more appreciated. For example, if your client is an attorney, you may get them a free pass to an educational seminar. Rewarding your clients for a referral will ensure that they repeat the gesture in future.
5. Go The Extra Mile
By this, I’m referring to spontaneous acts of kindness. Demonstrate that you’re willing to extend yourself beyond typical boundaries of time and resources to meet the needs of your clients. Does your client have a request you don’t normally accommodate, but that is easily doable and not time-consuming? Say you’d be happy to do that for them, and pool your abilities and resources to get that service for the client. For example, say you own a single-outlet fashion shop, and a customer asks whether you have a certain garment in red. Let’s assume you never stock that particular garment in red. There are two “WOW” things you can do here. Your customer will certainly appreciate it if you either put in a special order to get the red color in for her, or you direct her to another fashion shop to buy it there. This is a small gesture but you’ll be surprised how many fashion shop reps would say: “Sorry we don’t stock it, is there anything else I can help you with?”
When you pay attention to your clients and demonstrate that you care about their experience with you as much as the bottom line, they will remember you and return. If you treat your clients as faceless numbers and don’t convey your appreciation for their patronage, nothing stops them from trying somewhere else! Countless businesses are waiting to step in your shoes, so make sure you do your best to exceed client expectations. If you add the “WOW Factor” to what you offer your clients, they’ll do business with you repeatedly. They’ll become your raving fans, and will talk about you to their family and friends.
Making a strong impression that you care about your client’s satisfaction will encourage referrals and make your profits soar.
